🌿 Ideas, dialogue and future for rural tourism – EXTOR Multi-Actor Forum in Valladolid (Spain)![]()
Last week the EXTOR project brought together students, teachers, rural entrepreneurs and local stakeholders at the IES Diego de Praves in Valladolid (Spain) for a lively #MultiActorForum focused on the future of experiential tourism and rural development.![]()
The session began with a short presentation of the #EXTORproject (Experiential Tourism for Sustainable Rural Development) and the pilot activities carried out in Spain. Participants explored how vocational education and training (VET) can play a key role in preparing the next generation of professionals capable of designing innovative, sustainable and community-driven tourism experiences.![]()
One of the highlights of the event was the #roundTableDiscussion, where teachers, students and rural tourism actors shared their perspectives on the evolution of experiential tourism and its potential impact on local economies and rural territories. The conversation addressed topics such as youth employment opportunities, the role of creativity and entrepreneurship, sustainability challenges, and the importance of connecting tourism with local culture, gastronomy and heritage.![]()
The #dialogue quickly turned into an engaging exchange of ideas, with participants highlighting real examples, challenges and opportunities for rural areas in Spain. The presence of VET students added a fresh and inspiring perspective, bringing forward the aspirations, concerns and innovative thinking of younger generations.![]()
The forum concluded with an interactive participatory #workshop, where attendees worked together to identify key opportunities and challenges for the future of experiential tourism. Through a dynamic and collaborative activity, students and stakeholders shared visions, values, ideas and practical proposals for strengthening rural tourism initiatives and enhancing their social and economic impact.![]()
The participation was active, enthusiastic and highly constructive, and the group spent more than three hours exchanging experiences, reflections and ideas. The feedback collected during the workshop will provide valuable insights for the EXTOR project and for future initiatives linking vocational education, rural innovation and sustainable tourism development.![]()
A big ‘thank you’ to all the participants (students, teachers and local actors) for their openness, creativity and commitment. Together, we continue building new perspectives for experiential tourism as a driver of rural revitalisation.![]()
